Hello, my name is Derek (MIX username FLYDDW) and I currently live in Phoenix, AZ, but I've lived most of my life in Houston, TX, with a 3 year stay over in NJ. I found Jetsetshow (Now called Epic-FU) while trying to find things to pass time during my long (and sometimes boring) shift as a system administrator. I started first with the Scriggity show, where I think I heard reference to this show. Podcasts weren't a new thing to me, but well done podcasts were.
I've been around computers for a long time - watching it progress from teletype pictures of Snoopy, thru block B/W graphics of the TRS-80, beeps and buzzes of Apple ][ - to the very powerful level of systems today.
About 3-5 years ago, computers got to the point where very creative people started taking computers and tech equipment out of the hands of very big companies, and using them for more personable things. They filmed, starred in, cut, edited, and produced some very quality programs. Having the internet to push all that stuff around outside of mainstream also helped tremendously.
Enter Epic-FU. You can see the work that they put into each show. Zadi and Steve seem to love what do, and it shows. The creativity was outstanding, and they had a unique perspective to everything.
I say THEY because even though Zadi is the one mainly ON the camera (she looks good in green!) - uh, someone's got to be BEHIND it. That's when I started looking around to find other things that they done. You can't consider yourself a FAN of the show till you check out some of their OLDER stuff where they were BOTH in front.
Now, I am not a fanboy. I've been around things for way too long to give anyone or anything carte blanche (Hear that Apple and Microsoft!). Epic-FU is big on graffiti and music - not so me. They also live that California lifestyle (now), to the chagrin of those in the northeast shoveling snow about now.
But one thing that "this" type of media has is contact with the fanbase. Anyone can write them, use their MIX forum, or twitter / pownce them, and you'll be getting a immediate response (ok, not so immediate when it comes to Zadi - her mailbox is overflowing). Try THAT with Katie Couric or Leo LaPorte!
Anyway, that concludes my first (of many - I hope) blog - see ya later!

(PS: I am looking for a good title phrase for myself, preferably aviation related one, so watch for it in the subject line)

Aviation theme. Well, one of my main interests is aviation. I attended alot of airshows, and I also used to work for McDonnell Douglas. They merged with Boeing, so that's my plane heritage.
I also started taking flying lessons WAY back in the past. You need 40 hours to get your license, but do to my starts and stops in the lessons, I am slightly over with no license.
If I could, John Travolta and I would be flying friends. I would love to own my own jet.
I also listen to a number of Flying Podcasts. Check them out.

Thank you for sharing how you found out about EPIC-FU. Like you, I found out about Zadi but through a friend who blogs. He did a wonderful tribute to Zadi saying how much he admires her vision and what she is doing online.
After checking out her vibe and all that she is about with Steve, I TOTALLY agree. It definitely is a FRESH look into the positivity of what can be done on the web.
I look forward to seeing the growth of EPIC-FU.
When creativity merges with technology, the sky is the limit in what you can do!
