virgle: the adventure of many years
Posted by Zadi Diaz

Are you guys ready for a ride? Because today just feels like it will be filled with many... but that's just a hunch.

One of today's main announcements is the collaboration between Google and Virgin. According to the Virgle site:

Starting in 2014, Virgin founder Richard Branson and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin will be leading hundreds of users on one of the grandest adventures in human history: Project Virgle, the first permanent human colony on Mars.

So if you're up for being a fool pioneer, go ahead and test your pioneer potential, join the mission control community, learn about the 100 year plan and record 30 seconds of yourself pitching your boinkitude... because repopulating an entire world is hard work baby.

On a serious note, does anybody think that this may very well be our eventual back-up plan? I mean, stranger things have happened.

Even my hip hop blog Highbrid Nation had to report on project Virgle. If it is indeed real, then it is huge and is major in the area of space exploration. However I fear that it is indeed and elaborate April Fool's Day hoax. I guess we'll know for sure if announcements continue after today. Personally I'd love to see the two companies team up considering what they already have done with the Lunar X Prize and Virgin Galactic.
