justice: stress
Posted by Zadi Diaz

French director, Romain Gavras, directs Justice's newest music video for the song Stress. If you could epitomize what stress would look and sound like in a music video, I think this would be it. Romain and Justice take you to that place that gets the heart pumping with frustration and anxiety. I love how this video really grabs hold of the beat and just doesn't let go. A great marriage of video and sound.

I don't know about you, but I hate seeing that kind of violence portrayed. I live in the 'ghetto' in Philly and I see that stuff in real life almost every day and it makes me sad.

Yes, I agree Mark. That's exactly why it's so stressful for me to watch this -- but also somehow so artful in the most raw sense. Growing up in the Bronx, these images are pretty poignant... it really portrayed that real sense of inner terror that you feel walking down the streets.

Disturbingly real. Just an epic video, in the truest sense of the word.

whew. I had to stop watching. not my cup of tea.

Wow... disturbingly real is right. And that's why I don't like it. It captures the real frustration that so many young unemployed people are feeling in France these days. Kind of reminds me of Romper Stomper. I reiterate, disturbing...

Justice and Romain Gavras have struck a nerve , like a bad dentist. That was painful and so French. Thanks for finding that for us.

reminds me a bit of Jonas Akerlund's video for 'smack my bitch up' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNrhmbc0y_8

Good vidéo, nice post prod effect.
It's remind me a mix between - of course - A Clockwork Orange (1971) and last event from France's ghetto (banlieu).

Garvas has major talent. This is not an every day video. As I was watching it all I could think was "I would hate to run into those guys on the streets..." He did a great job of using the music to his best ability and really making a point creativity wise.

thanks for finding this video :]

This video is utterly terrifying, disturbing, raw and brilliant.

It really seems influenced by "Children of Men". I understand it might hit too close to home (esp. after reading what happened outside Mark's house). But at some level this video, that gang, represents fear incarnate -- our worst fantasies of "the other" realized.

And in the end, they turn on us -- the voyeur, represented by the camera. Maybe commenting on our complicity, or inability too look away --?

I just see pointless violence.

I totally agree with all of you but this is a fact of life.

With this behaviour being so commonplace, especially in London right now, I would have thought that creative people would sort to entertain rather than bore us. Nothing new, interesting or even that shocking here, and not even a plot that seeks to show redemption or consequence. I believe that Gavras will indirectly have blood on his hands through this creation. A low point of what has been an otherwise enjoyable album for Justice.
