behind the scenes: computers!
Posted by Annie Tsai

Ask and ye shall receive! On one of my last behind-the-scenes videos, Kurt Snieckus asked "Can you do a behind the scenes where the computer systems are explained? I see two dells under Steve's desk and am itching to know what they are doing." Penguinator wondered the same thing: "I saw a lot of computers too under there. I wonder what they are for."

Thanks for asking! :)

Hey Anne, on one of your other episodes you showed how zadi edited the show. Is there any possible way that you could show what zadi was doing. Or what's the main roll in editing of each person. I mean, if you don't want to that's ok. I just thought I asked. :D. Thank you.

Thanks for the behind the scenes shots - I really like em. I wonder why people use multiple machines, when then could get one really good machine and run VMware or Parallels with another OS.

I have my windows XP with a Fedora VM running. If I had the money and resources, I'd get the baddest a$$ mac I could buy, and run Windows and Fedora in VM's.

That would be the best of all worlds.

But, it is surprising to see all those non-macs doing some heavy lifting.

Haha, penguinator and Kurt Snieckus are the same person :D I appear to have forgotten that I asked once already :P
Thanks though! It was neat.

The fileserver needs to be dedicated, but the two other dells were only a couple hundred each form the dell outlet store, and that was about 4 or 5 years ago now. since we do so much heavy lifting with final cut pro, running parallels with another OS on our macs would probably be a bad recipe, but i can totally understand the mindset. eventually we'll all be using one machine that can run 4 or 5 different OS'es with very little overhead hit. can't wait for that.
