the 80's soothe my soul
Posted by Sarah Atwood
Facts of life

What is it about the 80's that I love? Is it the oversized pastel sweaters? Is it the big poofy hair? Is it the cheesy synthesized music? I can't quite put my finger on it but I think its a combination of all this and much, much more. I was a young child during this decade but I have tons of memories. My mom and I built our schedule around watching the evening sitcoms. The music and television made quite an impact on me. Good times!

To relive these carefree times, I like to scour the web for 80's TV intros. I have put together a selection for your viewing pleasure. Please enjoy!

movie stereotypes i love - bad dancer wins over crowd
Posted by Rick Rey

In this first installment of Movie Stereotypes I Love, check out this example of the classic "bad dancer eventually wins over crowd" moment by Patrick Dempsey in Can't Buy My Love.

This stereotype is usually found in teen movies during a pivotal school dance scene where the main character puts it all on the line. You'll find another great example in Michael J. Fox's coming-of-age opus Teen Wolf.

The underlying message here is just be yourself! Who cares if they call you a spaz. Just because you aren't the best dancer in the world, it doesn't mean you can't get out there and have fun with the cool kids. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by other people's reactions.
